Tip 1: The beginning

This is so important for your wedding toast; begin by introducing yourself. Make sure you tell everybody shortly who you are, and how you are related to the groom. Start by telling this, because truth be told; if you are at a big wedding, a lot of people might not know you, and they don’t know how you are related to the groom. This is a good way to start.

Tip 2: Use humor – but take care

Now this is an important part of your wedding speech; make people laugh. But be very careful with this, and don’t over-do it – it can easily go very wrong if you embarrass or humiliate the groom, bride or wedding guests. Make a few jokes, but keep its sober. Remember there are kids, grandparents and a lot of important guests at the wedding.

Successful best man speeches are supposed to be emotional, entertaining, and funny. If you get selected as the best man, then writing a great speech is one of your most significant tasks. A best man speech has the potential be remembered by everyone for a long time, good or bad. Thus it is very important that you spend the time to organize your best man speech and make it your best work possible. For the sake of the bride and groom, don’t try to scribble something down 10 minutes before you need to go up!

The goal of the best man speech is to honor both the bride and groom and generally just show why they are meant to be together. The best man speech should have an ample amount of humor to keep the wedding guests entertained instead of dying of boredom. If you decide to make fun of the groom, make sure you do it in a tasteful and respectful way.

Make sure that your best man speech can be understood by each of the wedding guests. Remember, the crowd can range from small children all the way up to elderly grandparents. Save those inside jokes that nobody will understand.
