Honeymoon Planning Checklist
Honeymoons are more often than not seen as secondary to the planning of the wedding itself, when, as far as memories go, they are just as significant as your day in church. Your honeymoon is a time which you’ll never forget as long as you live, so think carefully about honeymoon locations and honeymoon ideas.
Initially determine what your objectives are for the trip and what you can and can’t live without. What parts of the world interest you? What do you want to do? What are your priorities? Beautiful weather, sightseeing, adventure, cost, etc. Discuss honeymoon ideas with your spouse to be, suggest locations to each other, undertake some online research and ask your friends and family for opinions.
Trips to secluded beach resorts or islands remain the most popular choice, for obvious reasons. Such trips allow you to spend quality, quiet time with each other whilst unwinding from the hectic schedule of the last few months and losing yourselves in beautiful surroundings.
Cruises are another option; they give you an equally peaceful, relaxing time whilst also making it possible to visit a host of different locations. If you would prefer a more action-packed honeymoon, you could try a mountain resort or an adventure travel trip (such as backpacking or a safari).
Regarding honeymoon locations, these are some of the most popular: Argentina, Bali, Bermuda, Caribbean, Fiji, France, French Polynesia, Madagascar, Mauritius, New Zealand, Spain, Thailand.
Whatever type of honeymoon and location you choose, try to book it a minimum of 6 months beforehand to ensure that you’ll have the pick of the rooms, and can begin planning for your time away.
As soon as your hotel is arranged, starting researching and booking restaurant seats, tickets, tours, and various other activities for which advance reservations can be needed, particularly so if you’re going on your honeymoon during peak season. Try not to over-plan though as plenty of free time should be left available, in the first few days especially, in which simply enjoying the company of one another should be your main aim.
Do what you can to make your honeymoon stand out from any other vacation. In addition to normal vacation items, consider packing some fun extras, such as romantic music, candles, bubble bath, massage lotion and lingerie. Also, don’t forget to take a video camera and pocket camera with you, so you can look back on your special time together forever.
